An NPO protecting Amami's rare nature and sharing its appeal through experiences and cultural exchange.

Mission

Our Mission

Amami Ōshima was registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in 2021. As more visitors are expected, we address the island's nature from three perspectives as a civil organization.

Conservation

Environmental Conservation

We work to protect the rare plants, animals, and endemic ecosystems of Amami Ōshima and its surrounding areas, preserving them for future generations.

Experience

Experience & Education

We plan and operate observation and experience events, providing opportunities to connect with nature and culture, and spreading awareness of their importance.

Research

Research & Communication

We conduct research on rare wildlife and ecosystems, sharing findings through our website and social media.

History

History

  • Sept. 2017

    Hiroshi Kubo and fellow enthusiasts began study sessions on environmental protection in Amami.

  • Sept. 2017

    A founding meeting was held to determine the mission, articles of incorporation, and business plan.

  • Oct. 2017

    An inaugural general meeting was held. The establishment of the corporation and its officers were approved.

  • Mar. 2018

    Incorporated as a specified non-profit organization (NPO) (establishment registration).

  • Present

    Continuing nature experience programs with certified guides, along with research and awareness activities.
